Lucy M Merrow is my alternate identity — she is free to create at will, exploring colour, line, pattern and nature. Lucy isn't really interested in the 'art world', preferring nature and local people. She is, messily, living in the moment, ignoring boundaries between fine art and design.

In rural Norfolk she is enjoying learning more about plants and the nature around her. The patterns and structures in nature influence her patterns and creations. Using direct observation to influence her work but then simplifying and extending these into her colourful creations.

The work sits somewhere between abstract colourfield painting and botanical pattern design. She plays in the space between the expansive, infinite world that extends beyond the edge of a pattern, and the contained, artist-made world within the frame of a painting.

In her current work, Lucy enjoys making mistakes, hand-drawn lines and patterns, with the beauty of human error.

Her work is the process of discovery, a way of living, uninhibited sharing of joy through paint, line, colour and pattern.

Though there are unique one-off artworks, these are developed into prints and other things that multiple people can access and enjoy.
